about the author

Born to illiterate migrant parents, Shamim Khan was encouraged to acquire two languages and write Urdu from a young age. Her elder sister paved this path further by handing down Enid Blyton adventure books and an insatiable hunger for books. The local library was a second home and English Literature became both a passion and strength. After completing a BA(Hons)in English Lang/Lit, with primary qualified teacher status she married and emigrated for a while. She currently resides in the North West with her husband and three boys, and continues to avidly read, cook aromatic curries, and bake whilst working on her second novel.
